Boston College Sailing finishes 15th at women’s fleet race national championships

Boston College Sailing finished in 15th place with 276 points at the Women’s Fleet Race National Championships, which took place from May 15 to May 18.

The result highlights the team’s efforts in a competitive field. Seven athletes represented Boston College at the event: Caroline Sibilly, Kennedy Laureigh, Aiesha Shekar, Paige Roby, Lanie Ferrarone, Gabrielle Trinter, and Kate Joslin.

The Eagles qualified for the national championships after placing seventh in the Eastern Semifinals. In that round, Caroline Sibilly and Kennedy Laureigh led the A Division with a top finish and 45 points. The B Division team of Kate Joslin and Lanie Ferrarone finished in thirteenth place with 112 points. Their combined score of 157 points was enough to advance to the finals.

During the finals of the Women’s Fleet Race National Championships, Boston College ended with a total of 276 points to secure fifteenth place out of eighteen teams. The skippers for Boston College were Kennedy Laureigh, Kate Joslin, Paige Roby, and Gabrielle Trinter; crew members included Caroline Sibilly, Aiesha Shekhar, and Lanie Ferrarone.

Looking ahead, this experience provides valuable exposure for Boston College’s sailors as they continue to compete at a high level.
