Boston College rowing team completes first day at ACC Championships

The Boston College rowing team finished the first day of competition at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on May 15, with races held Friday morning at Lake Wheeler.

The event is significant for the Eagles as it marks their final competition of the season and provides an opportunity to showcase progress made over eight months of training. The results from preliminary heats set the stage for finals, which will take place Saturday morning.

Head coach Grace Hollowell said, “Some good pieces this morning in an incredibly competitive field. We are excited to have our best piece of the year tomorrow and show the work and effort this team has put in over the last eight months as a group. Looking forward to going stroke for stroke and continuing to push our speed!”

In race results, Boston College’s Third Varsity Eight placed fifth with a time of 6:56.930, while Stanford won that heat. The First Varsity Eight finished sixth in their event with a time of 6:35.890; Stanford also led that field. The Second Varsity Eight posted a sixth-place finish (6:49.630), again behind Stanford, Syracuse, and Miami.

The Eagles’ Varsity Four secured fifth place in their heat (7:20.390), finishing ahead of SMU but behind leaders Stanford, Syracuse, and Notre Dame. In the Second Varsity Four race, Boston College finished sixth (7:50.590), while Stanford took first place.

Finals racing is scheduled to begin at 8:05 a.m., concluding around 9:55 a.m., marking the end of Boston College’s season.
